Designing the Cover of a Lingerie Menu

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

We’re now well into spring with summer on the way, and nothing represents warm summer beauty better than dark black leather bras and panties. Today’s tutorial teaches the effects we used on our Flower Blossom Lingerie Menu, including the use of water color brushes, creating the look of movement in color, applying tanner looking skin, using glow to pop a figure out from a background, as well as a variety of other effects and brushes. However, our research indicates that 0% of our users will have read past the word “panties”, and will have immediately begun scrolling thereafter. Therefore, it will not matter what I write past this point, so I will simply post part of a poem written by Data on Next Gen: “Felus catus, is your taxonomic nomenclature, an endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature? Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.”

Design a Grungy Door Hanger Template for a Dirty Job

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Today we have a tutorial that Mike Rowe would be proud of; a dirty and soiled door hanger template for the tire industry. It may come as no surprise that getting filthy on the Internet is easy to do, however we’re going to show how do it using rubbers. Why does nothing I type come out right? Before I continue to make things worse as usual, we’ll just move along to the tutorial.

Design a Fresh Floral Logo in Time for Spring

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Now that Mother’s Day has come and gone, you might think that flowers would be so yesterday, however with our leap into spring, there’s still plenty of time left to enjoy a bright colored bouquet. So, in the spirit of the season, today’s Photoshop tutorial takes us though the steps of arranging an attractive floral logo design, which we ourselves used in the Bright Day Bouquet Brochure Template. By the way, did you know you could make wine from elderberry flowers? Yep, you can get drunk off pretty much anything that grows in nature.

Add Simple, Yet Elegant, Effects for a Cool Looking Fashion Postcard

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

The Internet is full of big flashy effects, immense graphical work, pictures of cats, and images of women under-dressed for any occasion. In today’s lesson, however, we will take a look at the flip-side of things, and discover how a few simple, tasteful, effects can not only complete, but comprise an entire design. It’s a reminder that sometimes simple works, and you don’t need to go overboard to achieve an effective design.

Create a Rockin Photo Frame and Collage

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

In the world of photography, you will often hear the term framing relating to the positing of the subject matter of an image. In today’s lesson, we take things more literally and create a graphical frame around the musician of our Tight Music website template to draw attention and emphasis so that we highlight the photo’s beauty and style. It also just looks really cool.

Create an Aged and Textured Pirate Poster

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Regular readers of this blog are already aware that for several weeks now, I have been without my raspberry ice tea flavored vodka after a brutal leprechaun invasion this past St. Patrick’s day. I finally decided to let the matter go, and went to the liquor store to pick up a bottle of spiced rum to help “fuel my creativity”. However, upon returning to my freezer for a shot of “inspiration”, I found that it was completely empty, save for the below poster rolled up neatly and bound by a conspicuous frosty eye patch. Today’s lesson teaches us that we must always lock our freezers when we are storing our hooch, in addition to some Photoshop work in recreating the ominous and evidentiary pirate poster.

Design a Dark and Sensuous High Heel Print Newsletter

Monday, April 5th, 2010

She’s got legs, she knows how to… insert them… into a well designed print newsletter template, and after reading today’s tutorial, so will you. Today’s Photoshop tutorial will teach you all of the effects needed to recreate the sexy, dark, and inviting High Class Heels newsletter template. Perhaps I could convince the leg model that posed for this photo to take a walk around on those stems and find that Leprechaun that stole my vodka last St. Patrick’s day. Did I mention that it was raspberry ice tea flavored?

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends. We’re so glad you could attend, come inside, come inside. Today’s Photoshop tutorial will show you how to create some retro style effects, such as the classic “retro rainbow”, but with a fresher, cleaner, and more modern style. These effects are part of a complete CD Jewel Box Cover tutorial. I’m hoping that at the end of the retro rainbow I’ll finally find that Leprechaun that stole my vodka two weeks ago.

Make a Print Ready Easter Greeting Card from Scratch

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Easter is upon us, and what better way to celebrate then by sitting in front of the computer and learning new Photoshop techniques for creating festive holiday greeting cards (at least it will get you away from the Wii for a while and let your knees recover from the balance board step-ups – amirite?). By the way, if you happen across the Easter Bunny, ask him if he saw that Leprechaun that stole my vodka last week. Anyway, today’s tutorial will show you how to design most of the Painted Egg Greeting Card.
